The Dutch team Visma-Lease a Bike unveiled its list of runners selected for the Tour de France, and Jonas Vingegaard, candidate for the final victory, will be very well surrounded.
Winner of the Tours de France 2022 and 2023, Jonas Vingegaard will go hunting for a third title from July 5 in Lille, and the 28-year-old Danish will be able to count on an impressive Visma-Lease team to challenge the immense favorite Tadej Pogacar.
The Dutch formation unveiled this Tuesday the eight runners who will compete in the big loop, and the lucky ones are Jonas Vingegaard, Wout Van Aert, Matteo Jorgenson, Simon Yates, Sepp Kuss, Tiesj Benoot, Victor Campenaerts and Edoardo Affini. The latter will be the only one to discover the Tour de France. He replaces French Christophe Laporte, who cannot recover from a cytomegalovirus.
“With these eight very strong runners, we believe in our plan for the Tour de France. From the first day, we will have to be present as a team to accompany Jonas as best as possible in the general classification. In addition, several runners will have the opportunity to target the stage victory. We are resolutely focused on ourselves and on our own plane. We have optimal preparation and, thanks to it, we think we can obtain the best possible result, ”hopes Grischa Niermann, race director at Visma-Lease A Bike.
Van Aert in yellow in Lille?
Wout Van Aert, capable, a few years ago, to gain both the sprint, in the background and in the mountains, is of course part of the runners who will have their chance to seek a stage victory. And why not the yellow jersey in Lille during the first step. But the former winner of the Vuelta Sepp Kuss or the double winner of Paris-Nice Matteo Jorgenson will also be runners to follow.
As usual, the Visma-Lease A Bike team will change jersey for the Tour de France, in order to distinguish the runners from the wearer of the yellow jersey. This 2025 jersey is called “swarm”, and will include yellow and black bands, formed with the names of the fans who pre -ordered the jersey a few months ago. And there is no doubt that we will see a lot of “swarm” on the roads of the Tour!
