France Télévisions: The National Rally, basically, does not vote on the taxation of the richest. So you tend to agree with it?

Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux: I can see where you want to take me, but I’m not falling into this rather crude trap. What do you want me to tell you? First, I let go a little on the budget. This is getting completely crazy. Nobody understands anything anymore. I know I’ll pay more taxes next year, but that’s about it. Because I am rich. I accept it. I’m proud because I didn’t inherit. I have no qualms about that.

France Télévisions: There is a very clear offensive from Jordan Bardella, the president of the National Rally. On Tuesday, November 4, there was a column in the pages of Le Figaro which was headlined as follows: “The Macronists have delivered the country’s economy to the left to the detriment of common sense”, and he ended by saying that France must return to budgetary reason.

Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux: For me, it’s due at the “same time”. So he is not the inventor at the same time, there is copyright. But there is a speech that is actually rather pro-business when Jordan Bardella says we are going to lower the production tax. But some of the votes, then not all, and above all part of the RN program is not a pro-business program. So we have the impression that he wants to flirt with both sides of voters, those who are more on the business side, and on the other, those who still want us to keep some social protection, we have a double talk.

France Télévisions: What do you consider illegible?

Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux: It is contradictory. Illegible, I don’t know, but contradictory. I don’t ultimately know which RN we are addressing and which economic program. That’s a bit like it, I have the impression. I’m not a keen political analyst like you probably are, but there are also two heads of war. On the one hand, a more statist, more traditional RN discourse, and on the other, a newer and more modern discourse.

France Télévisions: As you know, it is quite likely that it is the head of the gondola Bardella who is a candidate.

Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux: I will not make this prediction, I am not able to tell you. But once again, we need a pro-business discourse, I’m not going to surprise you by telling you that, but above all we need pro-business measures. The speech, when we are on an electoral campaign, we know that promises only bind those who believe them.
