“We will censor if François Bayrou maintains his unfair measures,” warns Yoann Gillet, RN deputy for Gard

On the occasion of the last council of ministers before the executive holidays, Wednesday, July 30, Alexandre Peyrout received in “La Matinale” Yoann Gillet, deputy for Gard and spokesperson for the National Rally, whose vote of a censure motion at the start of the school year could tip the government of François Bayrou.

Alexandre Peyrout: In a few hours will take place the last council of ministers before the holidays. Do they have to expect to fall at the start of the school year, these ministers?

Yoann Gillet: Listen, we were very clear. We will censor the government if there are tax increases, if there are still efforts requested from the French when the state itself does not tighten the belt. What we say, with Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, for weeks, for months, even, is that the state must tighten the belt. Today, there are savings to be made by structurally reforming the State with these government agencies which cost very expensive, 80 billion euros in their entirety, even a certain number is not effective. These are also savings to be made in immigration. Besides, the French wish. Today, immigration is very expensive and we are able, from 2026, to make 18 billion euros in savings on this subject. But also on the contribution of France to the European Union, since France continues to give more to the European Union. There are billions of euros to save money. So, before attacking the French, workers, retirees, we tell the government, to François Bayrou, that we must first tighten our belt.

Except that what you are talking about are health cuts in particular, this white year that will mechanically increase the taxes of certain French. Why hide behind your little finger, because it’s on the program? Are you going to censor, yes or no?

We will censor if François Bayrou maintains his unfair measures.

Do you plan to try to fold it, François Bayrou?

We censored Michel Barnier in December 2024 to protect the French. We have thus managed to re -see retirement pensions on flexion, to stop the increase in the price of electricity. So we intend to use censorship to protect the French. But if François Bayrou retreats and returns to reason, then we will be able to work seriously. We, what we want is to make structural reforms. I remind you that in the budget presented by François Bayrou, there are only 2 billion euros on nearly 44 billion euros in real savings on the lifestyle of the state. It is not acceptable. The state must tighten the belt before asking the French to make efforts.

Why not have censored earlier? François Bayrou has been in power for eight months. You did not have time to see that ultimately, she did not satisfy you, this policy?

But censorship is a strong act. And we, at the national rally, we will censor the government when there is matter to protect the French.

Was there not matter so far?

There were no direct measures. Today we want to censor the government if it maintains its budgetary cap. But yesterday, the censorship presented by the left had neither tail nor head. Because you will censor a Prime Minister, you censor a government, and you end up the next day with a new Macronist Prime Minister. So, we must tell the truth.

Do you think it will be different if you censor in October?

We will protect the French and we will save them from always suffering a government which comes to steal their money.

Customs duties and this agreement between the European Union and the United States should not arrange things. François Bayrou talks about submission from the European Union. Do you agree with this observation?
Obviously, but it makes me slowly laugh, anyway, to hear François Bayrou saying today what the national rally says for several years and systematically reaffirms. Today, France is totally subject to the European Union and the European Union is completely subject to the American market. This is a reality. And when it is the national gathering that says it, it is a lie. Obviously, today, the whole political class gives reason to Marine Le Pen.
Except that in 2016, Marine Le Pen said that the election of Donald Trump was a chance for France. She was wrong?

Donald Trump is in his role. Donald Trump defends his country and defends the Americans. Me, what I see today is that no one in the government, nor the President of the Republic, moreover, defends France, the interest of France and the French. And the European Union is in an ideology of its own, and has not defended the interests of Europe, any more that it did not defend the interests of France. Today, what we see with this agreement is that it is a total fiasco. Economically, morally, there is no interest in France. On the contrary, there was no counterpart that was negotiated. And this agreement will have very serious repercussions for France, especially for our farmers, since it plans to open the European market more to American productions.
