A new day of strike and demonstration is planned theand 2.the third in less than a month. During an interview with France Inter on September 28, Sophie Binet, secretary general of the CGT, saw it as a key turning point:“We are in a completely unprecedented social school year with soon three days of mobilization. If we want to be heard, if we want to end the small arrangements with friends from above where we decide for our place, our lives, of our future, we must mobilize.”
But should we expect the same mobilization as on September 18? No, according to SNCF forecasts which announces almost normal traffic. Slight disturbances are to be expected on regional and intercity trains, RER C, D and E, as well as on several transilian lines. On the RATP side and airports, no notable impact is expected. In the health sector, only some hospital staff remain mobilized and slight disturbances are to be expected on the side of postal services. Overall, the movement shows signs of shortness of breath.
Thus, on the educational side, the FSU and the SNUIP predict 10 % of strikers among teachers at school against 17 % during the previous mobilization. However, the union does not intend to give up: “We are shaking a real budget that lives up to means so that each student can be welcomed with dignity. We will not give up, regardless of the number of people on the street.” underlines Aurélie Gagnier, national secretary of the FSU-SNUIPP.
On September 18, the CGT claimed more than a million demonstrators throughout France, against 500,000 according to the Ministry of the Interior.
