More than 13 million French people will have to give more money to the taxman, according to “Le Parisien”. Reliquates that promise to be high: 1,900 euros to pay on average. The biggest payments will spread from September to December. An increase due to the increase in wages in the private sector.

This is bad news that awaits a lot of French. While the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFIP) is currently sending tax notices, the restful to pay can be very salty. “Several hundred euros. It’s not nice, it’s not pleasant at all”confirms a local resident. Another, surprise, indicates that they should pay “1,933 euros”.
In all, 13.1 million households did not pay enough taxes in 2024. On average, they will have to pay 1,901 euros, which are added to the sums already withdrawn. So how do you explain this gap? “To make money, these are situations where the salary increases more than the scale, these are tax shares that decrease, so children who will declare their declaration themselves, and these are tax credits that we no longer have. All this may explain tax increases”explains Olivier Villois, national secretary CGT public finances.
To avoid unpleasant surprises, remember to modify the withholding tax rates at each change of situation.
