Wine, aeronautics, but also the cosmetics sector are on the front line of industries that will feel the most 20% of additional taxes imposed by Donald Trump on French products in the United States.
Michel Barraud, Burgundian winegrower, sells 150,000 bottles per year in the United States, but the 20% additional taxes imposed by Donald Trump could end his benefit. “This bottle of Mâcon-Villages, today, it arrives in the United States, it is put up for sale at around 20 dollars. Tomorrow, (…) We will likely reach 25 dollars”explains the winegrower, president of the cooperative “Vigneron of secret lands”.
Michel Barraud anticipates a 25% drop in sales in America. A market on which he bet a lot. The Americans drink for 2.4 billion euros in French wines, but it is not just our good bottles that please them. France also sells them, and above all, planes, including Airbus. French aeronautics represents an invoice of 9.3 billion euros for the United States. They also buy us for 3.8 billion euros in cosmetics. A tricolor company sells their displays for beauty products, which will also be taxed 20% more.
