Wout van Aert has officially returned to training, after a total of two weeks of vacation: “There will also be a long season on the road and that is why we have to do reasonable planning. » A few days ago, the route for the next Tour de France was officially revealed.

Van Aert: “I have the ambition to be there”

A course that seems to inspire the Belgian: “The opening time trial and the Barcelona stage were already known and I was really looking forward to it. For the rest, I may find few stages that suit me 100%, but I can play on many terrains when I am at the highest level. That’s the goal. I can’t promise to be at the start, as discussions with the team haven’t taken place yet. But I have the ambition to be there. »

Last summer, Wout van Aert finished in 67th place in the general classification for this 2025 edition. Above all, the Belgian had to wait until the 21st and final stage to finally return to victory, by triumphing on the Champs Elysées. The rider had not won a stage in the Tour de France since the 2022 edition. In seven participations, the Belgian now has a total of eleven stage victories.
