Fifteen years later, Morgan Amalfitano still visibly wants Yoann Gourcuff…
Nothing resisted Yoann Gourcuff in the 2008-09 season. A major actor of the title won by the Girondins de Bordeaux, the Breton playmaker had been logically elected player of the year by his peers. He added the goal of the year there thanks to his incredible goal scored against PSG, during the insolent success won by Bordeaux (4-0) at Park Lescure.
With 47% of the votes, he had crushed the ballot and preceded Morgan Amalfitano (FC Lorient), Rémi Maréval (FC Nantes), Mickaël Pagis (Stade Rennais) and his teammate Marouane Chamakh. And almost 16 years later, the old hake has forgotten nothing. He had indeed scored against Grenoble which is the most beautiful goal of his career: a shot of around forty meters.
“This is my first season and we were in the middle of the table. I blew myself into the team, I imposed myself, I was in confidence, and it seems to me that I was playing the post in which I came. I did not ask myself too much questions. I tried and it worked. I was not a new nor a goalscorer, I did not score 15 goals per season but from time to time I had some inspirations not too bad including this one. This goal remains engraved because it is superb ”, He remembered for the FC Lorient site.
“Yoann Gourcuff had deserved it too”
“It was a nice feeling because I went to celebrate with the teammates, including Hamed Namouchi it seems to me, the staff … We play football to live these sensations”, he continued, before adding laughing: “Yoann Gourcuff me ‘steals’ the most beautiful goal of the 2008-2009 season thanks to his against Paris SG with Bordeaux … He had well deserved it too. »»
Long questioned, Morgan Amalfitano also mentioned Christian Gourcuff, who was the source of his arrival in Morbihan after three seasons in Sedan. “It was a Sedan transition to Lorient who could not have a look. I probably had the choice among other more famous clubs at that time in my career. Finally, in my progress, it was a very good choice initiated by a very good interview with Christian Gourcuff at the base, to lay the game conditions ”, he explained.
“In my profile, I learned a lot at FC Lorient. It was three seasons in perpetual progression with my teammates of the time. We knew how to develop a game that we did not necessarily succeed in reproducing in our respective careers thereafter. We were with our eyes closed. Everyone had been able to show off before going higher afterwards. I lived three superb years, in terms of play, and learned an identity on which I will base myself to transmit later. »»
