Thousands of motorists concerned. End of June, The government has decided to take drastic precautionary measures by ordering the immobilization of 800,000 additional vehicles equipped with Takata airbags considered at risk, bringing the number of immobilized cars to 1.7 million.

The cars affected by this measure of “stop drive” are all those equipped with risky airbags in Corsica and overseas as well as cars dating from before 2011 on hexagonal territory. Airbags at risk are as well as those that caused accidents, that is to say the ammonium nitrate without desiccant. All brands are affected by these urgent reminders. At the same time, the ministry requested the general recall without immobilization of all the cars equipped with an airbag at risk in mainland France (excluding Corsica), or 600,000 vehicles in addition.

On June 17, the government had already asked Citroën to immobilize all the C3 and DS3 requiring a change of airbag, regardless of the date of construction, or 100,000 additional vehicles. An accident occurred on June 11 in Reims, during which a 36 -year -old woman was killed by the explosion of her airbag, had precipitated this decision.

As a result of these measures, the number of vehicles to be repaired soar and waiting times are getting longer in garage owners, overwhelmed by this influx. Franceinfo wishes to give voice to the motorists concerned by these reminders, but who do not find room for a mechanic, while the summer holidays started.
